Christian Devotions Who Is God? |
The first of this Christian Devotions series, entitled “Who Is God?,” serves as a Bible study guide.
Of course, this Christian Devotion cannot possibly be comprehensive! Discovering Who God is will require more than each of our lifetimes; we will be learning more about His Triune Person throughout eternity.
Heart to Heart. When I was learning how to forgive, one of the first things I did was study the names of God in the Old Testament. Then I studied the Levitical sacrifices. These two Bible studies opened my eyes to who I am and Who He is.
I enjoyed studying the Names of God so much that I actually made a collage of His Names and posted the collage in my home’s entryway (see the picture). If you visit me one day, you can sit down at the bench to take off your shoes or boots and be welcomed “In His Name.”
I hope that my sharing part of my personal Bible study on the Names of God guides you in two ways:
- You will find helpful ideas and suggestions for studying the Bible for yourself.
- You will discover a little more of Who God is, which will stimulate a desire in your own heart to learn more about Him (2 Peter 1:3).

Each devotion contains:
- insights about the Name’s meaning
- Bible references
- New Testament applications
- questions for meditation.
