LIBERTY IN CHRIST
Greek and Hebrew Word Study

Embrace Liberty ~ Be Strengthened

This page is ancillary to the original foundational articles on Liberty in Christ:

Liberty in Christ, Part 1 of 2

Liberty in Christ, Part 2 of 2

This Word/word study of liberty was taken from Strong’s Concordance, Vine’s Expository Dictionary, and Webster’s 1828 dictionary.

LIBERTY:

O.T. 7342 rachab, roomy.

From 7337, rachab, a primary root: to broaden, to make large, make room, make wide

All of Psalm 119:41-48 (especially verse 45) “And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts.”

1865 derowr, from a root meaning to move rapidly: freedom, spontaneity of outflow, and so clear: liberty, pure

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek ;he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound. (Is 16:1) Jesus quoted this because He fulfilled it.

Jeremiah 34 (8, 15, 16, 17) liberty from physical slavery—freed!

FREEDOM:

1659 truth shall set you free John 8:32—deliverance from sin, from the law Romans 8:2, Gal 5:1

1658 Gal. 5:1 with freedom did Christ set us free (it’s completed) God did not set us free so we could turn to another form of bondage.

1657 II Cor. 3:17 where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty –access to the presence of God

Where the Spirit of the Lord is,
there is liberty!
~2 Corinthians 3:17
