LIFE-GIVING RELATIONSHIP PRINCIPLESFamily Size
An empty nest is not a curse but a blessing just like a "full nest" is. Christian families with one, two, or three children—or no children—can be just as blessed as those with six, seven, or fourteen. Number of children in a family is not the sign of obedience; fruit is—fruit of loving relationships rooted in Godly character. Finding our identity in our children, whether it's one or ten, is unhealthy for them and for us. A woman who fears the Lord will be praised (Prov. 31:30). - If this woman who fears the Lord has many children, they will rise up and call her blessed. Her husband will as well.
- A woman with fewer children has more time to develop ministry outside the home. As she fears the Lord and walks with Him, she will be praised at home and in her sphere of influence outside the home.
- The childless woman who fears the Lord is still fully a woman of God and of character, and God will use her mightily to minister to others outside her home because she has fewer responsibilities at home, like He did with Mother Teresa or Amy Carmichael who never birthed any children but had a garden full.
Each life is unique, which corresponds with the principle of individuality. Each family is unique as well. As we rejoice in our individuality, we will rejoice with and learn from all women who fear the Lord—whether they have many children, few children, or no children—rather than expect every woman to live within a prescribed image for their lives. Praise the Lord for moms with large families who are rejoicing in their blessings.Praise the Lord for moms with small families who are rejoicing in their blessings as well. Praise the Lord for childless women who are ministering His Life outside their homes and rejoicing in their blessings. Let every thing that has breath praise the Lord. Lord, tear down the prideful images that puff us up and revive us with Your Life and Love so we can rejoice with each other, rather than compare.May each of you find your identity in Christ. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord! ~Psalm 150:6Return to Marriage Articles Page Return to the top of the this page Return to Home Page
